US: Next week is crowded with data that could provide clues regarding the timing of the start of tapering. NFP, GDP, ISM and the FOMC meeting on Wednesday will be key events for the USD. Euro zone: With strong PMIs and a solid IFO the probability for a rate cut has declined. However, short EUR rates have picked up somewhat which makes bets for a dovish ECB next week look interesting. UK: Last month, BoE surprised by following in the footsteps of the ECB with a vague form of forward guidance. An official assessment will be provided alongside the inflation report on August 7, but markets will likely scan next week´s statement for clues.

Weighing the Week Ahead: Are You Ready for Action? A Dash of Insight

1) The FOMC announcement – continuing speculation about tapering of QE purchases 2) GDP news – which some will seize as evidence of recession 3) Another big week for earnings announcements.

Fundamental Keys in the Week AheadMarc to Market
The week ahead is chock full of fundamental events, and is, arguably, the most important week for the next month. Indeed, the events this week will help shape expectations for the period ahead. The US dollar has been trading with a heavier bias against the major currencies, and the events this week have the potential to set the stage for a recovery.
