The US will release its Q3 estimate for GDP with analysts forecasting a modest recovery. Germany's consumer confidence survey is likely to hold steady, while the University of Michigan final October survey is seen little changed from mid-month.

A number of Asian centres were closed for holidays today so market activity was decidedly muted. Japan’s CPI data for Sep. continued to show that the BOJ is still not making much headway in achieving its 1.0 percent medium-term inflation target.

European markets are expected to open lower Friday following disappointing quarterly results from Apple and Amazon.com. Meanwhile, markets await US GDP data which is likely to show an improvement in the third quarter of 2012.
